(Updated: 09.01.03) For most dancers, lessons are the primary source, if not the only source, of learning. However, as you will find out in the "Essentials" section, there are many more aspects of dancing that one must learn to become a great dancer. Getting good coaching, however, can definitely pave the way towards success. Finding a coach that meets your needs and suits your style of learning is often a challenge. However, once you find that person, you know you're in good hands. Dancing, like any other sport or art form, does not have to be learnt from a single person. Getting input from different sources can really improve your quality of dancing; whether it be your regular weekly lessons, instructional videos, books, or special lessons & workshops by professional DanceSport instructors. We encourage you to take lessons with different teachers, whether they are Vancouver-based or visiting from another area. New input is always helpful. Sometimes you need to hear something new, from a different perspective; or perhaps you just need the same thing said to you in a different way. Either way, it may provide the breakthrough that you need to jump to a new level of dancing. On this page, we will try to keep up-to-date with information about visiting DanceSport professionals who offer lessons or special workshops in the Greater Vancouver Area For local instructors, check out DanceSport BC's Steppin' Out Guide.
